The Association of Clinical Pharmacologists (ACP) is a national professional society committed to advancing clinical pharmacology and applying the discipline’s specialised knowledge to improve patient care, medicines development, clinical research and pharmaceutical policy. With an all-India scope, ACP brings together professionals dedicated to the safe, effective, rational and evidence-based use of medicines.
ACP works to strengthen the teaching, research and clinical-service functions of clinical pharmacology while promoting its integration into healthcare delivery and patient management. The Association supports rational prescribing, dispensing and administration of medicines; encourages the identification, documentation and study of adverse drug reactions; and promotes initiatives to prevent the misuse and abuse of medicines.
The Association also seeks to improve public and professional access to reliable information on medicines, clinical toxicology and poison management. It contributes to the development of rational, scientific, consistent and unambiguous drug-regulatory policies and encourages collaborative research in pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics at local, national and international levels.

ACP’s professional councils provide focused leadership in areas including training and capacity building, academics and curricular development, clinical research and ethics, regulatory and policy matters, industry–academia collaboration, patient-care optimisation, treatment guidance, career development, communications and international collaboration.
Through national scientific platforms such as ACPCON, ACP encourages the exchange of research, professional development, interdisciplinary collaboration and discussion of emerging developments in clinical pharmacology. These initiatives help clinical pharmacologists contribute meaningfully to better therapeutic decisions, improved patient outcomes and the continuing evolution of healthcare.
